OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT
Our General Outpatient Department, which works round the clock, is ably manned by a team of experienced male and female multinational Doctors to cater to the needs of patients of all nationalities.

Having sound know-how of the current medical practice, the team provides comprehensive general health care with due emphasis on curative and preventive medicine.

Minor and Major surgical procedures are carried out routinely. Medical and Surgical emergencies are promptly attended to both at the Clinic and Departments concerned.

House visits are undertaken on request at any time.

Ambulance services with a Doctor in attendance are provided on short notice at any time.

GENERAL CLINIC
This department functions round-the -clock with a team of male and female specialists including general physicians, paediatricians and gynaecologists. Experienced nurses and other paramedical personnel ably support these Arabic/English speaking doctors.

INTERNAL MEDICINE

As a special support arm to the General Practitioners, a team of experienced internists are available 24 hours a day to manage emergencies.

Endoscopy
Fibre Optic endoscopy has revolutionized the diagnosis of various gastrointestinal diseases. Whereas, conventional Barium X-Ray series can miss superficial lesions, with fibre optic endoscopy accuracy up to 96-98% can be achieved.

Now, UGI endoscopy has become the first choice in investigation for patients with epigastric pain and discomfort, dyspepsia and upper GI bleeding. Likewise, flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy offer many advantages over Barium enema in detecting mild colitis and small neoplastic lesions in rectosigmoid area.

National Hospital has acquired a state of art video-endoscopy system for both upper and lower GI endoscopy. These diagnostic procedures are safe and are done on outpatient basis.

ORTHOPAEDICS (ACCIDENT/TRAUMA)
With highly qualified and experienced Orthopaedic surgeons available, this Department provides efficient out patient services and 24 hour treatment for emergencies.

Trauma management requires both prompt attention and early treatment to achieve optimum results. Immediate and personalized care is given to the injured and operated if necessary, as instrumentation for fixing most fractures and joint injuries, is readily available. Any sport related and industrial accidents are also taken care of. (By the law prevailing in UAE, road traffic and vehicular accidents have to be primarily treated at the Ministry Hospital).

Specialized surgical procedures including arthroscopy which is a day care surgery is available. Arthroscopy enables the patient to return to normal life in the shortest possible time and is recommended for arthritis, acute and chronic shoulder problems, damaged ligaments or cartilages and joint injuries, foot related problems for child and adult.

RADIOLOGY
The Radiology Department is equipped with the state - of - the-art equipment, enabling swift and correct diagnosis. Experienced and qualified Radiologists and Radiographers, including female technologists to cater to female patients service this department.

The imaging modalities include:
· Open MRI
· CT Scan
· Multi probe ultrasound scanners
· Conventional x-ray units



Open MRI System

The hospital recently acquired a Panorama 0.23T Open MRI from Philips. This state of the art equipment is a new standard in Low Field Open MR. Its wide open structure allows for comfortable patient positioning and is especially beneficial to claustrophobic or anxious patients. The faster reconstruction speeds decreases the imaging time without compromising on image quality. It has a host of other interactive interventional features which among others allows for automatic positioning and orientation of imaging plane.

MRI angiography can also be performed among other special applications on this unit.



COMPUTERISED TOMOGRAPHY (CT SCAN)
The CT Scan provides an excellent method for imaging Head, Temporal bones, Orbits, Thorax (Lung and Mediastinum), Abdomen and Pelvis, Spine and Bony structures.

C.T. Max gives high quality images with 5 second routine scans by continuous x-ray exposure, high safety and reliability features.



ULTRASOUND
An Ultrasound scan is the initial imaging method of choice in the investigation of a variety of pathologies.

The TOSHIBA Sonolayer SSH - 140A system is an advanced, high resolution ultrasound system with multiple probes and colour flow mapping (Doppler) capabilities:

The ultrasound studies undertaken in the department include:
· Routine abdomino - pelvic sonography
· Obstetric and Gynaecological scans
· Trans Vaginal sonography for pelvic scanning and ovulation studies (FOLLICULOGRAPHY)
